Everything about Detroit is home. The smell of the air, the people, the comedy, the skyline: it’s home. When I go to the Woodward Dream Cruise or the Auto Show, everything looks and feels like Detroit. It’s something only people here can explain. What makes a car unique to Detroit is the driver; the way he leans back and looks out the window with one hand on the wheel. Rocking out to some Snoop Dog, Eminem or Dr. Dre. They might have a hat to the side with some sunglasses on. The rhythm of the drums that I play that make up my DNA is felt in the rhythm of a car on these streets; it’s Detroit style. Laid back, not too much.

Growing up, my Dad never took me to the Auto Show, so I took my son a while back. To see cars I’ve never seen before with him was special; look at the inside of them, find out how much they were, feel what they felt like. My dad wasn’t present in my life, so to be able to bring my son somewhere mine never took me felt so good.
I’m not just a drummer, but an entertainer. Big arm movements, throwing drums, throwing sticks, kicking, jumping; we have a pulse on the crowd. It’s Detroit style.
