This year our grand prize will be chosen by a public vote! A select group of posters will be displayed on our website, and the audience will be able to cast their ballot for their favorite 2027 Detroit Auto Show poster. An email will be sent to alert everyone when voting begins.
A poster submission can also be considered for Best Traditional Medium, Best Detroit Theme, or Best Use of Color. Best Traditional Medium aims to highlight posters that were drawn, painted, or crafted without digital technology. Best Detroit Theme is looking for a poster that uses classic elements of Detroit life in a creative way. For example, the Detroit People Mover, the city skyline, or Mowtown music. Lastly, Best Use of Color will showcase a poster that uses color in a fun and unique way! If you would like to be considered for any of these prizes, please fill out the check boxes on the entry form.
Guidelines:
- Open to students grades 9-12 currently enrolled in a Michigan school.
- All posters must be original work created by the student.
- Use of artwork from the internet or Al generated will result in disqualification.
- Poster must include: 2027 Detroit Auto Show, Detroit Auto Show Logo, and an automotive theme.
Detroit Auto Show assets will be provided and can be integrated into the poster design. - Posters can be horizontal or vertical but must be formatted to be 18″x24″.

Official Rules
ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open to students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 at a Michigan school. Students can work individually or in pairs of two (2).

POSTER REQUIREMENTS
Posters must have an automotive, Detroit Auto Show, or Detroit theme. Please note that any posters containing brand-specific vehicles will be disqualified. All subject matter must be in good taste.
Posters must contain all of the following:
• 2027 Detroit Auto Show
• Detroit Auto Show Logo
Detroit Auto Show assets will be provided and can be integrated into the poster design. A credit line with the student’s name(s) will be allowed.
MEDIA
Any mixed media suitable for reproduction as a poster is allowed, including digital and/or hand-drawn graphics. Posters must be two-dimensional. All posters must be original art, use of copywritten or Al-generated images will result in disqualification.
FILE SIZE
Submitted file must be 300 DPI at 100% (full size) and must be a JPEG file.
POSTER SIZE
Posters can be horizontal or vertical, and should measure 18″ x24″.
WINNERS & RIGHTS
An independent panel of recognized representatives from the art community will judge entries. These judges are selected at the sole discretion of the Foundation. The judges will not discuss the individual designs with the artists for any reason after the contest. The rules of the poster contest will be enforced in the sole determination of the Foundation. The judges’ determination is in their sole discretion.
Winners will be announced prior to the opening of the Detroit Auto Show, January 14-24, 2027. In order to claim their prizes, winners must disclose their Social Security numbers to the Foundation. Any federal, state, or other tax, license, or fee imposed upon the prize winners or the prize will be the sole responsibility of the prize winners. All profits from any sale of the poster will go to the Detroit Auto Show. The sole financial consideration for the artist is the prize.

All winning entries become the property of the Foundation as a copyrighted work for hire. Except as used by the Foundation, all artists will retain the rights to their work. Entry in the contest constitutes full permission to publish names and photos of winners without further compensation. The determination of eligibility of entries and any interpretation of these rules is at the sole discretion of the Foundation and shall be final and binding upon all entrants. By participating, the entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by these rules. All contestants must certify that their submitted poster is their original work and not copied from another copyrighted work or the art of another person. In the event a poster is published in social media or at the show, the contestant grants a limited license to the Foundation to display the poster in all media and merchandise.
